How special are your glutes?
Hip abduction exercises are not inherently bad warm-ups.
In general, they are an essential part of Performance training.
The story behind the exercise choice just doesn't pass the smell test.
Experiments repeatedly show no correlation between altered or delayed glute firing weakness and pain.
The truth is, the glutes are no more special than any other muscle.
It is beneficial to improve the strength of all relevant patterns, and maybe even focusing on a few key week links.
However, placing the glutes on a pedestal of functional significance doesn't make much sense, at least not in the gym.
So remember you are not your glute meat.
